  1. What is the development technology for the Preceptor eTraining solutions?
    Our Preceptor eTraining solutions are developed using Macromedia Flash v9. The Flash Player v9.0 or higher is required on each system that will access the module. The Flash player is available from Adobe as a free download from their website at http://www.adobe.com/downloads/
  1. What are the system requirements for Macromedia Flash Player 9?
    Adobe Flash Player 9 supports a broad range of platforms and browsers, including new browsers such as Firefox and Safari.

    Adobe has tested Flash Player 9 extensively on the following minimum hardware configurations:
    Windows: 450 MHz Intel Pentium II processor (or equivalent) and later; 128MB RAM
    Macintosh: 500 MHz PowerPC G3 and later; 128MB RAM
     
    Adobe Flash Player is supported on the following operating systems and browsers:
    Windows 98: Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5, Firefox 1.x, Mozilla 1.x, Netscape 7.x and above, AOL 9, Opera 7.11 and above

    Windows Me: Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5, Firefox 1.x, Mozilla 1.x, Netscape 7.x and above, AOL 9, Opera 7.11 and above

    Windows 2000: Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.x, Firefox 1.x, Mozilla 1.x, Netscape 4.7, Netscape 7.x and above, CompuServe 7, AOL 9, Opera 7.11 and above;

    Windows XP: Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0, Firefox 1.x, Mozilla 1.x, Netscape 7.x and above, CompuServe 7, AOL 9, Opera 7.11 and above;

    Adobe Flash Player 9 is available in the following languages for the above operating systems and browsers: English, French, German, Japanese, Italian, Korean, Spanish, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.

  1. What 3rd party programs or components do I need to run the Preceptor eTraining solutions, and are there any extra costs associated with these programs or components?
    The Flash Player v9.0 or higher is required on each system that will access the module via the internet. The Flash player is available from Macromedia as a free download from their website at http://www.adobe.com/downloads/

    Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to view and print the PDFs. It is available from Adobe as a free download from their website at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readermain.html
  1. When a new version of a Preceptor eTraining solution is released, does AIS also include release notes that indicate what new features or content has been added?
    Yes, the Release Notes are included with the product and can be found in the ‘Print Outs’ section.
  1. How is a new version of a Preceptor eTraining solution or updated content made available to users?
    Since the Preceptor eTraining solutions are offered as a web hosted solution, the latest version or updated content are uploaded by AIS to our web servers and are immediately available to all users.
  1. Do I need to have a broadband internet connection to view the Preceptor eTraining solutions across the internet?
    The Preceptor eTraining solutions are authored in Adobe Flash and it incorporates rich animations and audio tracks, therefore a broadband Internet connection is required for a quick response when viewing. If you do not have access to broadband internet you may wish to consider the disconnected version of the Preceptor eTraining solutions. The disconnected version is installed directly on your computer so you do not need to be on the internet to use it.
  1. Does my computer need to be able to play sound to use the Preceptor eTraining solutions?
    The Preceptor eTraining solutions include expert Audio commentary. In order to listen to the audio your computer will need to be able to play sounds.  The sound can be reproduced by a headset or external speakers.
  1. Our organization owns and operates a large number of nursing homes; can we install the Preceptor eTraining solutions on our own web servers and grant access to our users via our own intranet?
    Although we do not generally implement the Preceptor eTraining solutions as you have described, there is no technical reason why it could not be implemented this way. We would be pleased to discuss this deployment strategy with you, please contact our office at sales@aissystems.com to discuss this option
  1. What are the advantages of the online Web-Hosted version of the Preceptor eTraining solutions?
    There are a number of advantages to using the Online Web-Hosted version:
    1) You do not have to install any software on your computer other than the free Flash player and free Adobe reader

    2) You do not need to administer any updates to the system because these items are all handled directly by AIS and available to all users immediately

    3) You and your colleagues may access the system from anywhere in the world at any time via the internet

    4) This version provides for a 7-day money back satisfaction guarantee

    5) AIS is developing value added features related to the Preceptor eTraining solutions that will only be available through the Online Web-Host version.
